CM Nitish Kumar bats for admission of at least 33.3% girls in Bihar’s engineering colleges | Patna News


Patna: Chief Minister cum Vice Chancellor Dr. Bihar Engineering University (BEU) Nitish Kumar On Saturday asked the officials to ensure admission of girls to at least 33.3% seats in all engineering colleges owned by the state government.
Presiding over the first general council meeting of BYU, Vice Chancellor Nitish said that at least 33.3% (one-third) seats in all state government engineering colleges have been reserved for girls. “We want at least 33.3% girls to be admitted against reserved seats so that adequate number of women get higher education along with boys. The Chancellor said that the more girls are educated, the more the society will progress.
He further asked the BEU officials to ensure that the teaching of various subjects is done in a proper manner and all the examinations are completed within the time limit.
Nitish, himself an engineer by education, asked the university officials to regularly inspect engineering colleges and report any deficiencies found to the concerned department or authority so that prompt remedial action could be taken.
Inaugurating the new website of the university, the Chancellor-cum-Chief Minister asked the officials to start the construction work of the university building at the earliest.
“If there is a need for creation of more posts in the university, please take necessary action. There should be no shortage of teachers and staff in the engineering university,” Nitish told officials.
Earlier, the Secretary of State for Science and Technology Lokesh Kumar SinghInformed about the main points of the proposed constitution of the university through the presentation. Singh also apprised the General Council about the rules for constitution of the University’s Board of Studies, Finance Committee, provisions for new appointments and terms and conditions for granting affiliation to engineering colleges.
