How Delhi Capitals will fill the void left by Rishabh Pant’s absence has been one of the biggest questions going forward. 16th season of IPL, That will be answered – at least partially – on Saturday when Delhi Capitals take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium here.

According to coach Ricky Ponting, it could be part-timer Sarfaraz Khan or new recruit Abhishek Porel. The Capitals will also have to deal with the absence of South African pace duo of Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi, who are on national duty. The Capitals will have to rely on the Indian seam options, comprising Khaleel Ahmed, Chetan Sakaria, Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar, while the spinners have Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.
Talking about batting, Capitals have a lot of problems in the form of captain David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, in-form Mitchell Marsh, Rovman Powell, Riley Rossouw, Phil Salt and Manish Pandey.
As far as Lucknow’s batting is concerned, they will have to contend with the absence of Quinton de Kock, so the onus will be on the likes of skipper KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya. For wickets, the hosts will look at Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan.
