New Delhi: A few days ago a group of lawyers criticized him for his remarks on retired judges, Law Minister kiran rijiju shared a statement in his support on Twitter on Saturday.
Rijiju retweeted a tweet by Sanket Gupta, who identifies himself on Twitter as a Supreme Court advocate.
Sharing the statement, Gupta said, “We support the statement made by Hon’ble Law Minister @KirenRijiju Sir. Kindly fill and circulate.”
“We, the undersigned, are regular and active practitioners of the legal profession. We have read alarming reports appearing in the media that a small number of lawyers had issued a statement condemning Rijiju’s comments. That three-four retired activist judges were making anti-India statements…,” the statement read.
Addressing a media event here on March 18, the minister had claimed that some retired judges and some activists who are part of the “anti-India gang” were trying to make the Indian judiciary play the role of the opposition party.
Last week, over 300 lawyers, including 62 senior advocates practicing in the Supreme Court, issued a statement condemning the comments made by Rijiju.
