Paragon Restaurant, located in the heart of Kozhikode city, has been voted one of the most famous restaurants in the world by Croatia-based online food guide Taste Atlas. The list, published on Friday, includes restaurants from different parts of the world that have stood the test of time and prefer traditional and high-quality cuisine over pompousness. The list’s preface states, “The focus is on real food with strong flavors, often using time-honored recipes passed down through generations.”
Established in 1939, Paragon is cited as a symbol of the region’s rich gastronomic history, celebrated for mastery of traditional Malabar cuisine.
Travel Atlas has honored Paragon in the past by including it on its list of the best restaurants in the country. The recent recognition comes as a bonus after the international travel magazine Condé Nast listed the restaurant as one of the best 25 restaurants in India.
Apart from being ranked 11th in the world, Paragon is also the first of only five restaurants in India to have been included in the list.
Incidentally, Paragon Group Managing Director Sumesh Govind was unaware of this list until someone pointed it out to him on Saturday morning. “We did not know that we were also being considered,” he said. Hindu from Dubai. Taste Atlas shortlists restaurants primarily based on reviews from international food blogs.
However, Mr. Govind feels that he should not shy away from identities. “As inspirational as they are, we strive for recognition of people. It is not easy to maintain what we have earned till date,” he said.
Between the four brands, Paragon, Salkara, M-Grill and Brown Town, the group has over 25 branches across Kerala, Bengaluru and Dubai.
