Gadchiroli: A Naxalite carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh was killed in an encounter with C-60 jawans in a forest in Gadchiroli on Saturday. Gadchiroli district of Maharashtraofficials said.
The encounter started around 10 am Kiarkoti-Abujhmad Forest In Bhamragarh Taluka, He said that after the encounter that lasted for about an hour, a huge quantity of weapons, electronic equipment, solar panels and other items were recovered from the spot.

Under the false pretext of starting Damkaudwahi mining operations, they strategically distributed pamphlets to local villagers to support their cause and oppose road works and other development works.
As per inputs, a large gathering of Naxals was present near Todgatta to intimidate the villagers, and they were planning a large-scale ambush to attack the police parties, the release said.
Acting on inputs, the C-60 anti-Naxal squad of Gadchiroli police launched an operation in the Abujhmad forest bordering Chhattisgarh on Saturday morning.
During the operation, those hikers came under indiscriminate fire from a group of 60 to 70 Naxalites hiding in the jungle, who used BGLs and other weapons.
The jawans retaliated and engaged with the Naxalites for about an hour. Eventually the Naxalites managed to escape into the dense forest.
During the search, a dead body of a male Naxalite was found in the forest, which has been identified as Sameer alias Sadhu Linga Mohanda (31). Many serious cases were pending against him.
”He had worked as a member of Chittagong Dalam and as a security guard in Platoon No. 7 of Bhaskar in the year 2014-15. He was working in company number four since 2018. Initial reports suggest that he was currently working. in company number 10,” it said.
The Maharashtra government had declared a reward of two lakh rupees on Mohanda.
The search operation is still going on in the forest area.
