Tribal JAC leaders said that at present the people of Boya Valmiki community belong to backward class category. He said that the inclusion of Boya Valmiki community people of Kurnool, Cuddapah, Anantapur and Chittoor districts of the state with a population of about 20 lakhs in the ST list will reduce the ST quota of tribal agency areas in the state, which have a population of about 30 lakhs. . , he added.
The protesters blocked roads with trees, wooden logs, human-chain formation, vant-varapu (cooking on the streets) and a few other events. The protesters did not allow the vehicles of the Project Officer, ITDA-Paderu and some other vehicles. Schools, business and commercial establishments remained closed on Friday.
Manyam Bandh was successful and peaceful. There were very few incidents where protesters argued with police personnel. JAC leaders said they will continue their protest in various forms until the YSRC government withdraws its decision. eom
