Aiden Markram’s 126-ball 175 powered South Africa to a mammoth 370 for eight in the third World Cup Super League one-day international in Johannesburg on Sunday.
South Africa got off to a slow start after being sent in to bat in difficult morning conditions at the Wanderers Stadium. In the power play of 10 overs, he could only manage 42 runs for two wickets.
Markram shared half-century partnerships with Rassie van der Dussen (25) and Heinrich Klaasen (28) as the scoring rate increased before he and David Miller (91) shared a 199-run partnership for the fifth wicket . 118 balls.
This was Markram’s first ODI century. He completed 100 runs in 86 balls and scored 75 runs in 40 balls. His innings included 17 fours and seven sixes.
Miller scored 91 runs in 61 balls and hit six fours and four sixes.
As the flow of runs increased, the Netherlands’ over-rate suffered and they took more than half an hour from the allotted time to complete their overs.
