Acclaimed Hollywood actor Taraji P. Henson to guest star in the latest season of the comedy series Abbott Elementary,
Created by and starring Quinta Brunson, the show centers on Jayne, a positive second-grade teacher at the poorly funded Abbott Elementary, a fictional predominantly black school in Philadelphia.
According to entertainment website DiversityHenson will play Janine’s (Brunson) mother Vanetta in an upcoming episode of the hit series.
The casting was announced at the PaleyFest LA event. Abbott Elementary The panel personally includes Sherrill Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, Tyler James Williams, and William Stanford Davis. Janelle James and Chris Perfetti joined the event virtually from New York.
Henson is the latest to join season two of the show in a guest appearance as a member of Janine’s family. Earlier this season, Ayo Adebiri appeared as AyeshaJanie’s sister.
